In The Lion King, Simba is interpreted as Hamlet. Both stories follow the lives of a prince seeking revenge on his uncle for the murder of his father. Nala is of course supposed to be Ophelia. The Lion King actually follows very close to Hamlet's original script.
SHE'S THE MAN/ THE TWELTH NIGHT
The 2006 movie 'She's the Man' is set in a modern day college and follows the story of Viola, who poses as her twin brother Sebastian, in order to be allowed to play for an all mens soccer team. Viola and Sebastian also star in the Shakesperian play 'The Twelth Night'.
ROMEO+JULIET/ ROMEO AND JULIET
Everything about these two adaptations are identical except for the time periods in which they're set. Small changes, such as the modern Juliet committing suicide with a gun instead of a knife, are made to the newer version. Both films have identical dialogue.
HAMLET (2000)/ HAMLET
Just like the modern version of Romeo and Juliet, the 2000 version of Hamlet stays very close to the original script. Modern touches, such as Hamlet inheriting a company instead of a kingdom from his father, were made to the 2000 version.
10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU/ TAMING OF THE SHREW
10 Things I Hate About You strays further from the original Shakespeare play it was based off of. The dialogue, setting, and events have all been revised in this modern version.
